SHILLONG: The KHADC has sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the concerns of the people following the NGT ban on rat hole mining.
Replying to a query raised by LG Nongsiej (HSPDP) on the ban on coal mining and its implications on the financial health of the Council, KHADC CEM P N Syiem said that to tackle the issue, the KHADC had submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister highlighting the plight of the people, especially in Khasi Hills, following the NGT ban on coal mining during the former’s visit to the State recently.
The KHADC was informed by the Centre that the memorandum was forwarded to the Union Home Ministry, Syiem said.
To a question by Pyniaid Sing Syiem (HSPDP), the KHADC CEM said that no petition was filed by KHADC against the ban of coal mining by NGT.

The KHADC is yet to conduct the interview for the post of magistrate at the Council’s Judicial Wing which has been vacant for a year now.
This was informed by the KHADC CEM while replying to a query raised by HSPDP MDC Teilinia Thangkhiew. “The post of magistrate has been lying vacant since one year.
