SHILLONG: The Joint Forum of All Unions and Associations of NEEPCO has accused the management of the PSU of victimizing the employees on whimsical grounds.
In a memorandum submitted to the chairman and MD of NEEPCO on Monday, the Joint Forum alleged that very often the management takes the unprecedented step of transferring and suspending employees of the Corporation without any rhyme or reason.
The Forum also accused the management of indulging in wasteful expenditure by saying that NEEPCO has VIP rooms in its guest houses at Shillong, Guwahati, Kolkata and New Delhi, especially for its functional Directors which are always kept vacant for them; but these guest houses are not used by the officials as they stay elsewhere thereby incurring wasteful expenditure.
The Forum also alleged that the Executive Director (Security) is allegedly misusing his power, and hence they demanded that the officer should be immediately reverted to his parent organization.
According to the Forum, there have been many instances when employees have been manhandled by miscreants in the different project sites in the Northeast and added that they would like to know as how many times, ED (Security) had visited the project sites and what actions he had initiated to prevent these kinds of incidents.
“It is also learnt that around 2-3 security personnel of the Corporation are permanently posted at the residence of the ED (S) for performing menial jobs for him,” the Forum alleged.   Meanwhile, the Forum also demanded that CMD must take immediate steps for the refund of the   shares of the other joint venture partners out of the Rs 100 crore paid by NEEPCO as upfront premium to Arunachal Pradesh Government against Siang Upper Hydro Power project (3750 MW).
