Sale of liquor banned along NH 44

SHILLONG: In order to prevent and minimize the frequent fatal road accidents along the National Highway 44 the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District has issued an order under section 144 CrPC prohibiting sale of liquor along the NH 44, restaurants, hotels in the entire district except in the licensed bars. The DC also called upon the people to cooperate with the district administration on the matter.
