Mortal remains of Isak to arrive in Nagaland today

Kohima: The mortal remains of NSCN co-founder Isak Chishi Swu will reach Nagaland on Thursday and will be laid to rest in his native village Chishilimi in Zunheboto district.
According to sources, all section of Nagas living in New Delhi, including Nagaland Lok Sabha member Neiphiu Rio and NSCN-IN General Secretary Th Muivah, visited the hospital where Swu breathed his last to pay their last respect. Sources said the body will be kept in New Delhi on Wednesday and a condolence prayer will be held at 0500 hrs. The body of Swu will be taken to Dimapur on Thursday around 0100 hrs in a chartered flight, where a civic reception will be held at the Dimapur airport before moving to NSCN-IM headquarters Camp Hebron, where it will stay for the night.
On Friday morning, a state funeral service will be held at Camp Hebron, 40 Kms from Dimapur.
After the funeral service, the body will be proceed to Swu’s native village Chishilimi, where the last funeral service will be held before he is laid to rest.The chairman of NSCN (IM), Swu, who passed away on Tuesday afternoon at New Delhi after a prolonged illness, was 87-year old.
He is survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter. The Naga leader joined the Nagaland underground in late 1950’s and served the then Naga National Council (NNC) in various capacities.  He is one of the founding leaders behind the formation of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) in January 1980 opposing the Shillong Accord signed by the then Naga National Council (NCC) with the Government of India.
