PWD to construct Mawdiangdiang-Mawlong road

SHILLONG: HSPDP MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem on Wednesday apprised PWD (Roads) minister Sniawbhalang Dhar of the dilapidated condition of the Mawdiangdiang-Mawlong road, particularly the bridge that connects the two villages, and sought for immediate repair to ease traveling and transportation needs of the people.
In this connection, the Joint Action Committee of six Dorbar Shnong and the Shilliang Wahsala Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation, has sent a memorandum to the Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads), Shillong, seeking immediate repair of the road.
The memorandum stated that local residents of Shilliang Wahsala face immense difficulties due to the bad road condition. They also feared that the bridge might collapse at any time.
Meanwhile, Cabinet member A.L. Hek, KHADC EM Neil Antonio War along with the Executive Engineer PWD Road Bypass Division, and the SDO accompanied by the village headmen inspected the road on Wednesday.
Hek proposed the construction of the road from Mawdiangdiang through Umsawli and Mawlong till the Bypass, which received the nod of the executive engineer.
