TURA: The residents of Goanang (Araimile) locality in Tura has strongly opposed the shifting of M/s Dolphine Wine Shop near SBI Branch to another location opposite the Mount Dura Academy saying that the new location does not meet the required guidelines of the amended Excise Rules.
The objection was raised during a public meeting held recently at the Goanang Community Hall.
Nokma of Goanang, G M Sangma in his complaint to the Deputy Commissioner concerned claimed that the new site is only 198 metres away from the Goanang Baptist Church and 22 metres from the Mount Dura Academy which is in violation of the distance prescribed by the HC in its recent order. He also said that no NOC was issued by the local authority to the owner of the wine store to set up the same at the new location. Stating that the presence of wine stores in the locality is adversely affecting the well being of the locality especially the youth and the student community, the Nokma urged the DC to act immediately on the matter. Further, he also informed of a resolution taken during the meeting not to allow wine stores to be opened under any circumstances in the locality in the future.
