SHILLONG: The BSF troops posted along the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya once again foiled an attempt of cattle smugglers at Lyngkhat in East Garo Hills.
A BSF special ambush party while dominating the area observed a suspicious movement of few persons along with cattle. They immediately cordoned the area, however, the suspected miscreants fled towards Bangladesh taking advantage of dense forest ad thick vegetation. A thorough search resulted in the seizure of 13 cattle from the spot.
In the last two days the BSF has seized 54 cattle worth Rs 7.73 lakh from the International border along Meghalaya in the areas of Baldamgiri (South West Garo Hills), Kapasipara (South Garo Hills), Kakargora and Karigora both in South West Khasi Hills.
Recently, cattle smugglers increased their activity in the bordering areas due to the forthcoming festival of Eid Ul Fitr.
