Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday directed authorities concerned to ensure road connectivity to all villages in the state within the next three years.
“Road connectivity within the next three years is a priority and I have told officials to take various steps and initiatives to ensure better maintenance of roads, especially the rural road network,” he said after addressing officials of various departments in Upper Assam’s Tinsukuia district. Sonowal also directed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to immediately create a roadmap for proper maintenance of the rural road network.

Issuance and renewal of licences and deposit of taxes must be a simple and transparent and citizens should not be running from pillar to posts, he said. Sonowal emphasised on the need for maximisation of revenue collections, find a solution to stop revenue leakages from forest resources and to ensure effective tax collection procedure and that there is no tax evasion.
He directed the Food and Civil Supply department to keep prices of essential commodities under control.
The Chief Minister also reviewed medical facilities and infrastructure at various sub-divisions of Tinsukia district and assured that the government will take steps to ensure that the required number of doctors are present in these facilities. (PTI)
