SHILLONG: A fire broke out in the kitchen of the house of one Bonnie Rymmai at Upland Road, Laitumkhrah on Thursday leading to damage to property worth Rs 50,000. The fire was apparently caused due to short circuit and even damaged the CCTV.

Suppliers forge signature
SHILLONG: Inspector of Taxes, Umsiang Taxation gate (Ri Bhoi) has lodged a complaint against three suppliers who allegedly forged signatures and seal of the Taxation Office and fraudulently passed the consignment through the gate.  Police have initiated inquiry into the matter.

Directive against illegal collection from truckers
JOWAI: The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has directed all involved in “illegal collection of money” from truck drivers carrying limestone plying towards Tamabil Land Custom Station on the stretch of NH-40 (E) near Khar Lamin and Sokha villages to immediately stop the practice without proper sanction from the Government.
