Two other city residents arrested for dealing in stolen items

SHILLONG: Following complaints about a number of burglary cases in Laitumkhrah area, Laitumkhrah Police studied the modus operandi of the miscreants in the various cases and narrowed down on one Ricky Swer (29), son of (L) Mahesh Singh of Iew Mawlong.
When Swer was picked up for questioning, he admitted to the various burglary cases and assisted police in the recovery of a number of stolen items from the possession of one Jieaur Rahman (20) of 4th Furlong and one Gita Dev (43) of 4th Furlong, Polo.
The two persons who had received the stolen items were also arrested.
Police, meanwhile, informed that Ricky Swer was a habitual offender and had been arrested earlier for a number of burglary cases.
Police have advised the citizens not to buy articles offered for sale at throwaway price as the same might have been stolen.
Meanwhile, several cases of burglary in residences have been reported in the State in the last few days.
S. Phawa, headman of Pynthorsale village in East Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that one Markos Chyrmang recently stole cash from the house of Sboh Sana and Do Kyndait and also threatened the villagers with dire consequences.
In another incident on July 9 at about 4.30 AM, unknown miscreants broke into the house of one Promode Sinha at Motinagar, Laitumkhrah and stole a TV set, gold ornaments, clothes and cash Rs. 5,200.
On July 8, unknown miscreants stole one cell phone belonging to Francisca Doya Nongkhlaw from her residence at New Colony, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
Another incident took place on the night of July 7 when unknown miscreants broke into the residence of one Laxman Roy at Bishnupur, Shillong and stole cash Rs 12,000.
