SHILLONG: The Tura MP Conrad Sangma will raise the alleged sugar scam in the Lok Sabha during its monsoon session beginning from July 18.
“I have decided to raise the matter in Parliament as the justification given by the State government is not acceptable”, Conrad told reporters on Tuesday
According to Conrad , the Public Accounts Committee has already taken up the matter and the issue will be followed at all levels.
Earlier, NPP had alleged irregularities in the tendering process for supply of sugar and demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.
According to NPP, the state government had favoured a particular bidder at an exorbitant rate for the distribution of sugar in the state.
Recently, the PAC found that the bid of the lowest bidder, who quoted the rate at Rs 37.50 per kg of sugar, was rejected while another bidder who had quoted Rs 42.50 was given the green signal.
