Intensified diarrhoea control fortnight launched in Nongstoin

NONGSTOIN: In order to provide better health care to the people in and around Nongstoin, the office of the District Medical & Health Officer launched an Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight at Nongstoin civil hospital on Thursday in the presence of local MLA Diosstarness Jyndiang.
The function was also attended by Dr. R. Laloo, JR SP, DM&HO Nongstoin civil hospital, Dr. W. Nongkhlaw, Specialist, Nongstoin civil hospital, and Dr. C. Iangrai, District Tuberculosis Officer, West Khasi Hills.
Addressing the gathering, Jyndiang said the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight is a programme of the Health department aimed to reduce the child mortality due to diarrhoea.
He also said this campaign would benefit the general populace of the district and create health awareness among the people of the areas besides providing medicines.
Dr. Laloo said ASHA workers will visit all households with children below five years of age for pre-positioning the ORS or Zinc vitamin for intestine, and they will explain its benefits.
Dr. Laloo also announced that this campaign would be carried out for every village through CHC, PHC and sub centre from July 11 to July 13.
