Database of rhino horns to be complied in Assam

Guwahati: Setting in motion the Rhino Horn Verification process of the Assam government from on Saturday, a database of rhino horns kept in various treasuries of the state would be compiled. The decision was taken in the first meeting of Committee for Examination of Rhino Horns here, chaired by Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, said Suvasish Das, the Divisional Forest Officer of Kaziranga and the panel’s member secretary.
Brahma emphasised on the need for complete and transparent evaluation so that people gets to know the actual status of rhino horns kept in various treasuries of Assam.
The Committee was constituted by Assam government comprising experts from both inside and outside the Forest Department, Das said. (PTI)
