TURA: Ancient A’chik folklore has it that the popular folk song “Nanggorere Goserong” was composed by those young Garo men who went to France in 1917 during the peak of the First World War and present day Garo academicians are being urged to undertake a research to study the origins of it and place it in popular A’chik narrative.
During the 97th observance of the Garo Labour Corps Day in Tura on Saturday, State legislator Noverfield Marak said that a proper research would be undertaken on the subject in the light of claims from Garo elders of yesteryears that with all probability the song was composed by the recruited Garo men during their journey to France during the First World War.
