NEC, ICCR ink MoU

SHILLONG: In a bid to promote rich cultural heritage of the people in the North East region, the North Eastern Council (NEC) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) here.
Both have overlapping mandate and their coming together and working in the fields of arts and culture is expected to increase the number of activities, besides pooling in of resources, ICCR director C Rajasekhar said.
The MoU with ICCR, which works to foster India’s external cultural relations, will help boost the cultural heritage  of the people in North East region, he said Speaking on the occasion, the NEC Secretary R Muivah said that this (MoU) will help in cultural exchange.
The troupes will be sent to Europe and other western countries.  On the other hand,   the regional director of   Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)  N Munish Singh   said that each project under the programme will have  its plan of action.
