Ad hoc teachers’ salary doubled

SHILLONG: The State government has decided to enhance the grant for salaries of all ad hoc secondary and higher secondary schools by a whopping 100 per cent. Even science teachers will avail the benefit of the hike.
Commissioner and Secretary, Education department, DP Wahlang informed that teachers in secondary level will now get Rs 20,000 per month while those from higher secondary level will receive Rs 24,000 per month and the science teachers will be given Rs 22,000 per month, exactly the double of what they had been getting till date.  The decision of the Government to enhance the grant will benefit a total of 1068 schools and 3212 teachers approximately.
The Government would have to spend an additional amount of Rs 40.29 crore per annum to meet the requirements.
