SHILLONG: The North Garo Hills Tribal Contractors’ Association (NGHTCA) has served a 15-day deadline to the state government to release the bills of over Rs 24 crore pending with the State Government.
In a memorandum submitted to the chief Minister Mukul Sangma, the NGHTCA president Jagir M Sangma said that the works undertaken were for bridges and roads which were damaged after the devastating flood in the year 2014. He said that the bills under different heads include natural calamities (Rs 849 lakh), general (Rs 57 lakhs, 13th Finance Commission (Rs 22 lakh), Special Plan Assistance (Rs 127 lakh), and RIDF (Rs 354 lakh). In the PHE department, the pending bills under the different Sub-Heads include RWSS (Plan) (Works) Rs 500 lakh,NRDWP(Schools &ICDS Centres) Rs100 lakh, NRDWP (Sustainability) Rs 400 lakh, which comes to around Rs 1000 lakh. The association rued that the matter has been taken up with the Government on several occasions but there has been no response.
