Flood creates havoc at police battalion camp in Delhi

State govt writes to Ministry of Home Affairs

SHILLONG: With the arrival of monsoon season, the personnel from 6th Battalion of Meghalaya camping in New Delhi are finding it difficult to cope up with the flood.
Photographs were provided to media persons on Saturday which revealed the hardships being faced by the police personnel.
The 6th Battalion’s camp is completely inundated  bringing  misery to the personnel whose quarters made up of tent are filled with water and mud.
When contacted, Commandant, 6th MLP Battalion, FG Kharshiing said that he is aware of the problems and he had already written to the Delhi police and even the police headquarters in Shillong for a temporary change of the base besides setting up of the portable cabins for the personnel.
“Battalions from other states of the North East have already got portable cabins.” Kharsiing said.
According to Kharshiing,   Meghalaya Government has also written about the plight of the personnel  to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the matter is pending with the Ministry.
It is learnt that there are 30-40 personnel from the battalion in the camp in New Delhi.
