SHILLONG: Acting on a tip off, BSF troops from BOP Gujanpara  in South West Garo Hills seized 25 cattle from the bordering area. The special ambush party of the BSF laid a trap while some smugglers along with the cattle were proceeding towards Bangladesh.
A thorough search operation was carried out and the cattle seized. However, as always the cattle smugglers managed to flee taking advantage of darkness and thick foliage.  The smugglers are trying to take advantage of the incessant rains to smuggle cattle and other contraband items, the BSF said following the seizure.
In another incident BSF troops deployed at BOP Baghmara, South Garo Hills seized 81.54 cft of logs, several bamboos and 30 bags of coal while the items were being smuggled out to Bangladesh through Simsang river. These items were tied with bamboo rafts.
