Solution of Naga issue delayed due to lack of unity: Nagaland CM

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang on Wednesday said the opposition-less Government in Nagaland, comprising of all 60 legislators, was formed under his leadership in order to pave way for inclusive and lasting solution of the Naga political issue, but such opportunity has been delayed, due to lack of unity and integrity amongst the Nagas. Speaking at the 6th Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) Fiesta-cum-General Session under the Theme “Conscia Mens Recti” (A mind conscious of integrity), which began at Local ground Mon town, as the chief guest, Mr Zeliang said the Nagas are proud of our unique history, culture and identity but unfortunately the quality of integrity and honesty is rapidly diminishing in the present Naga society, which needs to be reestablished.
On the issue of reservation policy of Back Ward Tribe Zeliang said the ENSF had brought many short comings which needed to be implemented, compelling the Government to issue fresh directives for effective implementation of the Backward Reservation policy. Because of their strong demand the Backward Tribe Commission has been passed and waiting for final approval,” he said. (PTI)
