SSLC achievers felicitated in Ri Bhoi

Nongpoh: With a mission to encourage the effort of students and to recognize their achievements, the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District on Wednesday felicitated Parthana Bora, a student of Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh for securing the 14th position and  Rinabasuk Lyngdoh of Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Mawbri who bagged the 18th position in the recent SSLC examination conducted by MBOSE.
Mementoes and cash prize were handed over to them by Rona Khymdeit, local MDC  who graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of C.P. Gotmare, Deputy Commissioner Ri Bhoi at a felicitation programme held at the District Auditorium Hall, Nongpoh.
Speaking on the occasion, Khymdeit lauded the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner for organizing the programme under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme aimed to encourage other women in the district.
The chief guest while delivering her speech said that receiving the award is not only a pride for the achievers and their family but also, it is the pride and honor of their locality, their school and the district as a whole. She appreciated and congratulated the two awardees for their achievements.
Khymdeit further said that the two young students has set an example to others and requested other school children to follow their footstep. She also stated that poverty should never be an obstacle for someone who is willing to succeed in life, adding that there is no difference of being schooled either in urban or rural area and that only self dedication, hard work and determination can help them achieve their goals.
Godmare while speaking on the occasion lamented on the fact that  Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme,  a central scheme is being  implemented in Ri Bhoi District due to the decline of birth rate of girl child in the district.
