Gratuitous relief
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, has sanctioned an amount of Rs 68,000 for payment of gratuitous relief to the affected beneficiaries under Amlarem block and Rs 3,65,800 for payment of gratuitous relief to the hailstorm affected beneficiaries under Thadlaskein block for the year 2014.
Health camp
The Relief and Rehabilitation Colony Welfare Society in collaboration with Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, Guwahati will organize a free health camp at RR Colony Community Hall on July 31 from 10 AM.  Health Minister AL Hek will inaugurate the camp.
Poets’ meet
All India poets’ meet organized by Sahitya Akademi in collaboration with English and Foreign Language University will be held on July 30 and 31 at multi-purpose hall, EFL University, Shillong.
Kalakairali meet
The annual general body meeting of Kalakairali, Shillong will be held at MIIT hall (Holy Cross) on July 31 at 2 PM. The agenda is the annual report, submission of accounts and election of new officer bearers.
Competition
Metallica-Sargam Sports & Cultural Club, Shillong will organize its 15th annual inter-school English Recitation competition on July 30 at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah.
PDS rice
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), West Jaintia Hills District has informed that AAY and NFSA (PHH) quota of rice for the month of June, 2016 has been released. AAY quota of rice will be distributed at the scale of 35 kgs per AAY FI Card at the rate of Rs 3 per kg for both rural and town areas while PHH quota of rice will be distributed at the scale of 5 kgs per head per month at the rate of Rs 3 per kg.
GK book
A book titled ‘Meghalaya General Knowledge 2016-17’ by Minimon Laloo was release by C. Massar, Principal, Lady Keane College, during the 81st Foundation Day celebration of the college. Meritorious students of the college were felicitated on the occasion.
