SHILLONG: The BSF on Wednesday seized more cattle from Nayabazar in East Khasi Hills and Balughat in South West Garo Hills. No one was arrested.  The BSF said cattle smuggling has become rampant along the Indo-Bangladesh border, especially after the incessant rain in the last few days.
“The smugglers, with the help  of local goons, bring the cattle to the forested areas and look for the right time to take these animals through the unfenced border. BSF has been pursuing the locals for their support in reining in the miscreants,” said a BSF jawan. The forces seized 28 animals on Wednesday.
