Cashier’s body found in Umiam Lake

SHILLONG: Police on Wednesday recovered the body of the manager-cum-cashier of a sawmill who had reportedly gone missing on Tuesday morning with Rs 4.5 lakh. Ri Bhoi SP G.D. Kharwanlang said that Banwarilal, manager-cum-cashier of M/s Vishal Saw Mill, Umiam, had disappeared along with Rs. 4.5 lakh from his workplace. His body was fished out from Umiam Lake on Wednesday. Police are yet to figure out whether the victim had committed suicide or had been murdered.The money is yet to be recovered.
