Ex-CS Pariat to head power regulatory panel

SHILLONG: Former Chief Secretary W.M.S Pariat has been appointed as the chairman of the Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC). The decision was taken in the State Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the post was lying vacant after former chairman Anand Kumar expressed his desire to be released from the post. Stating that the vacancy has to be filled as per the Electricity Act, 2003, Sangma said the search committee had recommended two names for the post.
The other name was of Utpal Borah, a retired official of NEEPCO.
