Meghalaya to celebrate sainthood of Mother Teresa

SHILLONG: Meghalaya is all set to celebrate the canonization of Mother Teresa on Sunday.
Mother Teresa had visited Shillong in 1975 and again after 11 years.
The three dioceses of Khasi-Jaintia Hills will celebrate the canonization of Mother Teresa on Sunday at the newly inaugurated parish St. Teresa named after her at Nongshyrngam, 30km from Pynursla, in East Khasi Hills.
The programme will start at 1pm with the screening of a film on the life and works of Mother Teresa followed by the Holy Eucharistic celebration.
Earlier, Archbishop of Shillong Rev. Dominic Jala had appealed to all the faithful to participate in the function.
The head of the Missionaries of    Charity in Shillong Sr. Lipika MC from Shanti Bhavan said that on September 5, there will be a thanksgiving mass at 5:30pm at Laitumkhrah Cathedral Church to be concelebrated by Archbishop of Shillong, and Bishops of Jowai and Nongstoin.
Later on September 10, there will be a special mass at Shanti Bhavan as part of the celebration of the canonization of Mother Teresa by the sisters of Missionaries of Charity.
Shanti Bhavan has deputed two sisters, Anncein MC and Binita MC, to Rome as representatives.
