2 cops held for theft

SHILLONG: Two constables were arrested on Saturday in connection with a theft in the city.The role of the cops came to light after an investigation following a complaint lodged by Dhirendra Chandra Das on Friday. The complainant said unidentified miscreants threatened him with dire consequences and stole Rs 22,500, three cell-phones and a camera from his house at Madanrting on Friday.
After investigation, police arrested Armed Branch Constable Karan Gurung and Unarmed Branch Constable Chimky Khonglah. When contacted, SP (Crime) Vivek Syiem said, “We received a complaint and after investigation we found that they (the constables) were involved. Criminal investigation and departmental proceedings will be simultaneously started against them.”
