Mumbai: Bollywood actor John Abraham has been roped in to promote the mystical land of Arunachal Pradesh and to popularise the state’s tourism. “Our focus this year lies in boosting the tourism sector and making Arunachal Pradesh a ‘Must See, Must Experience’ state.
For this we need like-minded partners that see and understand our vision and can help us chart this path,” Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Secretary Joram Beda said in a statement issued here.
“We found such a partner in Viacom18 who have helped us get John Abraham, an adventurer, on board. We believe our association with him will strengthen our purpose of putting out our state in the Indian diaspora as a prominent tourist destination,” Beda added.
Arunachal Pradesh, which is the largest of the seven sister states that form the north eastern part of the country, mainly is promoting the state as an adventure destination in the country.
“Arunachal Pradesh is a traveller’s paradise and a land of untold tales. After all, a journey is best when it is entertaining,” Viacom18 Group CEO Sudhanshu Vats said.
Bollywood actor John Abraham says it is rather sad that the north east region has been “alienated” from the rest of the country, with people having little knowledge about it.
John says the region has been ignored not only geographically, but also in terms of history.
“Historically and geographically, we have alienated the North East from the rest of India.
It is truly sad. I think we have to be inclusive and it is high time we include North East in India,” John told PTI in an interview. (PTI)
