SHILLONG: The women cell of North Eastern Hill University is awaiting response from F.A Qadri who is facing allegations of sexual harassment.
The chairperson of NEHU’s women cell, S Dkhar, said a letter was issued to the respondent on August 31 asking him to respond to the allegations within 10 days and that he will be given another seven days if he fails to respond within the stipulated time. She also said the cell is conducting an internal inquiry into the matter.
A research scholar had alleged that Qadri, Dean of School of Social Science, sexually harassed her last month. The students’ union at NEHU has been demanding immediate termination of Qadri.
Dkhar also informed that the women cell had written to the Vice Chancellor about the allegation along with supporting documents on the day the girl complained.
