Prohibition
The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting plying of all heavy vehicles carrying goods and stones more than the permissible weight. The order has been passed in view of reports received that goods and stone-laden heavy vehicles plying via the dilapidated Umjapuh Bridge carry loads exceeding the permissible weight of 9 tons.
Cleaning drive
As part of the Swachh Bharat Campaign, the office of Shillong Cantonment Board will organize a cleaning drive at 8 am on September 9 at Ward No. III, Jhalupara (Shillong Cantonment Board’s Parking lot near TB hospital junction).
Lok Adalat
The District & Sessions Judge/District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ri Bhoi will organize a monthly lok adalat on criminal compoundable matters at the office of the District & Sessions Judge, Ri Bhoi on September 10.
Birth anniv
Shillong Assamese Ladies Welfare Club will celebrate the birth anniversary of Bhupen Hazarika on September 8 with lighting of lamp and with a musical evening titled ‘Bhupen Hazarikar Geetor Godhuli’ at Assam Club at 5. 30 pm on September 9.
National nutrition week
The Community Food & Nutrition Extension Unit, Ministry of Women and Child Development, in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Meghalaya, observed the 35th National Nutrition Week at Smit on Tuesday. On the occasion, over 100 women took part in a nutrition rally and lecture cum demonstration.
Blood donation
The Red Ribbon Club, ICFAI University in collaboration with Pasteur Institute (Regional Blood Bank) organized a blood donation camp on September 6 at the University’s Shillong campus with support from the Meghalaya Aids Control Society (MACS). 14 units of blood were collected during the voluntary blood donation camp.

Seminar
