SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has appointed lawyer K. Paul as the amicus curiae to assist the Court in connection with the education scam case.
Paul was appointed to apprise the court on the status of the pending case in the Supreme Court which will come up for hearing in November.
Paul was the petitioner for a section of teachers who were declared as ‘tainted’ by the High Level Scrutiny Committee. They had sought the intervention of the Supreme Court.
After the High Court heard the views of the counsels of CBI and the petitioner, the matter has been fixed for September 23.
According to the petitioner,       the matter pending before the Supreme Court and the High Court are different as the former relates to challenging the High Court order for constituting the High Level Scrutiny Committee, while the latter is regarding the FIR filed with the police seeking action against the ‘accused’.
