Entrance test postponed
JOWAI: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills has informed that the entrance test for the free coaching class for the post of Grade III and Grade IV in the district has been postpone to September 14 and the last date for submission of applications has been extended to September 12. Candidates have to submit the application, along with two passport size photographs, to the planning branch of DC Office by 5pm.Danakgre school foundation laid
SHILLONG: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith M. Sangma has laid the foundation stone for Najing Memorial Secondary School, Danakgre, on the outskirts of Tura. The school to be constructed as part of the Asian Development Bank Project is one of the four after Garobadha, Zekabari and Rangsakona. The stone-laying ceremony was on September 7.
NPR enrolment
Shillong: An awareness programme on NPR Biometric Enrolment was held at the community hall of Lawsohtun, Block-II on September 3. The programme was organized by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills in collaboration with the Directorate of Census Operation, Meghalaya.
Library inaugurated
SHILLONG: To commemorate the World Literacy Day, the Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of Shillong set up and inaugurated the school library at Oakland LP School. The IWC also constructed two toilet units, one each for boys and girls. The school has been declared a “happy school” under Rotary International Literacy Mission. The club has imparted free education to 60 students of the school for the current academic session.
