ULFA-I releases BJP leader’s son in Assam

Guwahati: The banned United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) on Friday released
Kuldeep Moran who was abducted by the outfit from Arunachal Pradesh on August 1 last.
Kuldeep is son of a senior BJP leader Ratneswar Moran who is a member of Tinsukia District Council Police said the abducted person was released at Lumbi Basti at Nampong near Arunachal Pradesh-Myanmar Border. His father and brother rushed to Arunachal Pradesh to bring Kuldeep home. Assam Police and Arunachal Police were working in close coordination to secure release of Kuldeep.
Earlier, ULFA (I)’s self-styled ‘c-in-c’ Paresh Barua, in a statement issued to the media had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Kuldeep but denied demanding any ransom for his release.
However, Kuldeep’s parents and local legislator from Sadiya LAC, Bolin Cheita , had alleged to have received extortion demand of Rs 1 crore for securing Kuldeep’s release.
The ULFA(I) also circulated a video clip on August 22 last showing captive Kuldeep fervently appealing to the Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and parents to secure his release.
The ULFA (I) is opposed to unconditional talks with Government of India and suspected to have pitched camp in neighbouring Myanmar.
