FICN racket busted in Ri Bhoi, six held

Nongpoh: Police on Sunday busted a FICN racket and arrested six persons during a surprise raid at Rangsakona, 15 Mer, under Byrnihat Police Outpost in Ri Bhoi district on Sunday morning at around 11am.
Based on specific inputs by intelligence sources about circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), a police team led by the Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police and the Officer in charge of Khanapara police station conducted the raid and arrested six persons identified as Manirul Ansari from Goalpara, Md. Ishmail Ali from Tinsukia, Monosh Gogoi from Dibrugarh, Firoz Khan from Tinsukia, Raju Lama from Lower Dibang, Arunachal Pradesh and Hamidul Ali from Kamrup.
From their possession, police recovered 57 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination, a bundle of sealed carbon paper showing Rs 1000, 59 bundles  of plain papers cut to the size of Rs 1000 notes, 25 fake carbon notes of Rs 1000 denomination, 2 bundles of white paper and one trolley box. Police also seized three vehicles in the possession of the accused.
The Ri Bhoi district police chief informed that investigation will be conducted to find out whether others were also involved in the FICN racket.
