Cigarettes seized

SHILLONG: Customs sleuths of the headquarters (preventive) unit seized smuggled cigarettes of Myanmar origin valued over Rs 35 lakh in three separate cases on September 5, 9 and 11 respectively.
The cigarettes were transported from Imphal by public transport and were meant for sale in Meghalaya. One case was detected at Jorabat whereas two other cases were detected in Shillong.  I.R. Kharkongor, Deputy Commissioner, headquarters (preventive) unit said that further investigation of all the cases are in progress.
