NEW DELHI: The Centre has assured Rajya Sabha MP Wansuk Syiem that it will soon fill the vacant post of NEIGRIHMS director.
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda has said in a letter to Syiem that “the Ministry has initiated the process for filling the vacant post of director”.
Wansuk is a member of the Governing Council of NEIGRIHMS (North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences). The super-specialty hospital is running without a head since July.
Earlier, Wansuk had demanded autonomous status for the institute similar to AIIMS. “Growth and expansion of NEIGRIHMS has been consistently stymied by the ad hocism on the part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,” she had said.
