SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers’ Association (AMSSASTA) central body recently demanded that the government should revoke its decision on salary enhancement of SSA teachers based on their training and educational qualification.
In a statement issued to the press the AMSSASTA said that distinction of SSA teachers will lead to differences among them. The government should take into account the seniority status of the teachers as well, it added.
In their meeting with Minister of School Education and Literacy Deborah Marak, the teachers were assured that the matter will be examined.
Meanwhile, the association was also dismayed at the announcement of the result of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) training that is “full of mistakes”. In this regard, the association members met the State in charge of D.El.Ed, D. Porbot who assured the teachers organization that matter will be taken up with the higher authorities.
The association urged teachers who were “marked absent despite appearing in the examination” to approach the coordinator of their centre.
