SHILLONG: The Opposition on Friday wanted to know the status of CMJ and North East Adventist Universities during the question hour.
Replying to questions by Embhalang Syiemlieh and Jemino Mawthoh (both UDP), Higher and Technical Education Minister Roshan Warjri said in the Assembly that the Meghalaya Governor had sought a few clarifications on the North East Adventist University.
The North East Adventist University Bill was passed on March 25, 2015.
Titus Chyne (UDP) wanted to know the status of CMJ University as there is a lot of confusion over its functioning. In reply, Warjri said that after the state government had issued notification for dissolution of CMJ University, the High Court had stayed it, “but the government is taking up the matter with the Supreme Court and hence the matter is sub judice”.
Warjri said that out of the total eight private universities in the state, the Techno Global University is not functioning.
