Programme for promotion of black pepper cultivation held

WILLIAMNAGAR: The government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has come up with an initiative to motivate the people of the state in preserving trees.
Rongjeng C&RD Block, East Garo Hills Parliamentary Secretary, PWD Cherak W Momin on Saturday said that the government will be promoting cultivation of black pepper which will not only save trees but also change the socio-economic condition of the people of the region.
Momin arrived as the Chief Guest  in the absence of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma who could not take off by chopper from Shillong due to inclement weather.
Momin later distributed high yield Panniyur 1 variety black pepper saplings on behalf of Chief Minister to 83 villages under Rongjeng C&RD Block.
