SHILLONG: A four-day film festival for children will start in Meghalaya from Monday. The festival, being organised by Children’s Film Society India (CFSI), will start from Tura in West Garo Hills. Hundreds of children from schools in remote areas of the State will get to see four select films — Kima’s Lode-Beyond the Class, Mother I Love You, Krish, Trish & Baltiboy and The Goal.
Shravan Kumar, CEO, CFSI, said, “Meghalaya is extremely rich in cultural heritage and tradition and this needs to be ingrained in children through the powerful medium of films. The films, like ‘Mother I love you’, to be screened reflect the customs and lineage of this land. We believe that our initiatives will not only strengthen the cultural roots of the children in Meghalaya but also join them with the mainstream.”
In Tura, Kima’s Lode and Mother I Love You will be screened at District Auditorium from 10am on Monday. The screening at District auditorium Jowai will be on September 21. The festival will be organised at U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong on September 22 and September 23 from 10 am.
The festival will extend to two more northeastern states — Tripura and Nagaland.
