SHILLONG: The 129th foundation day of the Unitarian Church of North East India was celebrated at the Unitarian Church in Nongthymmai and was attended by hundreds of faithful.
Rev. Derrick P. Pariat, President of the Unitarian Union North East India (UUNEI), in his sermon called for social action and community ministry. “We should come out of our churches and help authorities provide better amenities for the society at large,” he said.
Everything is beyond manageable limits and “we cannot remain citizens who criticise the authorities and instead we should share our resources and join hands with the government in making our State a better and safer place for children and women”, said Pariat and emphasised that Unitarianism is not only a message but a faith in action. Also present on the occasion was local legislator Jemino Mawthoh.
