Infant dies, 23 hurt in bus accident

SHILLONG: A minibus travelling from Mawkyrwat to Nongnah village fell into a gorge killing an infant and injuring 23 passengers on Monday evening.
South West Khasi Hills SP Herbert Lyngdoh said the driver of the bus has been arrested and sent for medical examination. Preliminary inquiry indicates mechanical glitch in the bus led to the accident.
The injured passengers were taken to Mawkyrwat CHC from where 17 were referred to Shillong.
