He was a member of the Central Puja Committee (CPC) of Garo Hills and the convenor of the Thakurbari Committee.
On Tuesday noon he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to a hospital in Tura but died on the way.
Friends with the Late Purno Sangma since the latter’s days in the Congress party, he went along with the former Lok Sabha speaker when the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was formed along with Sharad Pawar, and Tariq Anwar on May 25, 1999 after the trio’s expulsion from the Congress for questioning Sonia Gandhi’s Italian origins.
