SHILLONG: The Mawlai Constituency Progressive Forum (MCPF) led by KHADC Deputy CEM PT Sawkmie met the Director of Community & Rural Department I.R. Sangma to submit a memorandum demanding the creation of a C&RD block in Mawlai constituency.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Sangma, Sawkmie said, “We demand that the Headquarter of Mawlai C & RD block be at Mawlai. We have taken note of the announcement of the creation of the block at Mawlai from 2013 to 2017 budget sessions, but till today the block is not functioning.”
“We request that the government starts the functioning of the block office at a temporary rented space while looking for a suitable land to construct a permanent building,” he said, adding that the creation of the block will provide employment to the youth.
