Wanted Diplomatic War

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has talked big on human rights violations in Kashmir at the UN General Assembly meet in New York. He has not spoken about the bedrock of terror in his own country. Islamabad exports not merely terror but also nuclear technology. Pakistan is providing North Korea with the trigger to explode successive nuclear devices. Nuclear capability appears to be Pakistan’s foreign policy boast which can be properly dealt with only with international sanctions. New Delhi should go all out to make sure that Pakistan’s diplomatic space is increasingly narrowed down. The Indian government has to put up a case at all major international forums to nail Pakistan’s lies about not being a terror-sponsoring and terror-exporting country. There is no doubt that Pakistan aids and abets cross-border terrorism into India. India should get Bangladesh and Afghanistan on its side to prove its case. A joint boycott of the SAARC meeting in Islamabad should be a step in the right direction. It should also be made clear that the Pakistani ISI and military are supporting terrorism with the civilian government under their thumb.

India would do well to shelter Pakistani dissidents, intellectuals and artists persecuted in their country. Exiled Balochi leader Brahamdagh Bugti is already seeking such asylum in India. He wants the International Criminal Court against the Pakistani army for its atrocities on the Baloch people. Pakistan should be condemned for human rights violations against ethnic minorities and liberal protestors. That will rev up India’s diplomatic war against Pakistan.
