SHILLONG: Shillong along with 23 other locations will be host to the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan 2016 to will be held on September 24.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, All India Radio, Shillong programme executive F Dkhar said that the event would feature several eminent and promising artistes from across the country who will enthrall the audience with Hindustani, Carnatic, folk, Western music etc.
The 90-minute musical evening will be held at the U Soso Tham Auditorium here at 6 pm on Saturday. In Shillong, Prosanto C Dutta, a radio artist from Kolkata, besides Soul Mate and Lou Majaw and Friends will perform during the event.
According to Dkhar, the event is being organized to promote talent and to bring harmony through music. It may be mentioned that for the first time the Sammelan will feature western music.
