SHILLONG: Mahatma Gandhi University has adopted a five-year strategic plan to develop infrastructure and expand its presence in the State, said its Vice Chancellor Shiv Kumar Tripathi on Saturday.
Stating that the university, which was set up in 2010, is trying to minimise commercialisation of education, Tripathi announced that the first audit would be next year.
With private universities mushrooming in the State, the VC said the varsity is doing its bid to allay apprehensions of people about newly-opened educational institutions.
Meanwhile, the University has also partnered with EXCEL R to offer new and emerging skills focused for students and working executives. The partnership came in existence with signing of a MoU between the two organizations.
In the first phase, three courses on project management — Quality Management (Six Sigma), Data Sciences and Business Analytics would be offered which is an open enrollment course.
The courses are flexible and designed in view of the special needs of the target learning group in the North East Region.
