SHILLONG: The KHNAM on Monday decided to field Bankhraw Sing Kharbuli as the party candidate from Laban constituency for the by-election to seven District Council seats.
KHNAM working president Adelbert Nongrum said the party would soon finalise its candidate for the remaining six seats.
Slamming the MDCs who have resigned from their post, Nongrum said these MDCs left the people in crisis for their own interest and asserted that this would work in favour of KHNAM.
KHNAM is taking all steps for effective screening of the candidates, said Nongrum and added that the party would not like anyone to use it as a platform for their political career. “We want only serious people in our party,” he said.
Meanwhile, KHNAM has criticized the move of the state government and the Centre to roll out the schemes on Aadhaar and registration for NPR. Stating that the immigrants may enter an NPR camp to get themselves registered, KHNAM said illegal immigration will pose a huge threat to the safety of local society.
