Launch
The Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) scheme will be launched at All Saints’ Hall at 11 am on Tuesday. The programme is a joint initiative of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (a joint venture company of PSUs of Ministry of Power, Government of India) & MePDCL).
Tourism Day
The Department of Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Tourism Department will observe the World Tourism Day at U Soso Tham Auditorium on Tuesday. On the occasion, an exhibition cum sale of products produced by persons with disabilities will also be held.
Happy School
The Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of Shillong converted the Laitumkhrah Assamese LP School into Happy School by giving a complete facelift to it providing safe drinking water, toilets, new library, staff room and renovating and painting the entire school. The school was inaugurated by the IWC District Chairman, Pubalee Biyarbaruah on September 26.
Peace programme
The India Peace Centre in collaboration with North East India Christian Council & National Council of YMCAs of India will organise the Ecumenical Leadership Formation – A Peace Education Training Programme at the Pastoral Centre, Shillong, from September 28-30.
Inauguration
The Department of Philosophy, Lady Keane College, will set up the Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies in the college on September 27.
