Prohibitory orders imposed in Guwahati

Guwahati:  Prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC has been imposed in several areas here, including the major roads leading to Raj Bhavan, Gauhati High Court, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Kamrup (Metro) district office and the GPO.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, central police district, Guwahati, Ranjan Bhuyan in his order prohibited assembly of more than five persons, procession and shouting of slogans on the roads following appeals to him that some persons or groups were likely to disturb the normal functioning of offices, movement of public and flow of traffic there.
The preventive measure was to ensure peaceful movement of public, traffic and also the normal functioning of offices in these areas in apprehension that such elements will carry out agitation/demonstration/shouting of slogans, he said.
The affected areas include all roads around Raj Bhawan, M G Road leading to Raj Bhawan by the side of river Brahmaputra, M G Road near D C office Panbazar, FC Road near Gauhati High Court, GNB Road near Dighalipukhuri up to TC point rotary, Taibullah Road near Dighalipukhuri, Ananda Ram Baruah Road near GPO Meghdoot Bhawan and Kanak Lal Baruah Road near Handique College.
